Vanguard's training is presented in two parts:
Indoor Classroom Instruction and
Outdoor Hands-on Instruction
Indoor classroom instruction
Collateral Material, basic fire safety concepts, emergency preparedness, types of extinguishers, various suppression agents, fire-class identification, video demonstrations, proper use of a fire extinguisher, and written test.
Outdoor hands-on instruction
Outdoor hands-on instruction demonstrates safe arming of cartridge-charged extinguishers, hazard approach tactics, sweep techniques, and extinguishing three types of simulated fires common in the Oil and Gas Industry: Trench/drain; three-dimensional cabinet; and truck wheel rim fire. Following the demonstration, each attendee is walked through the complete process, skillfully guided by the instructor, to put into practice their newly acquired knowledge. Demonstration and training on a 350 lb. wheeled extinguisher is also included.
